Excess Baggage (2023)

This second collaborative work created by Alan Parker and Gerard Bester, was funded by the Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme. The work is an interrogation of the many similarities between the human body and the common bag. The performers consider the many ways that a body is like a bag – constantly containing and holding all that we accumulate as we grow older – as well as the emotional, psychological and physical weight that we, as humans, must carry.
